A soft, lumpy mash of slow-simmered lamb and pumpkin with an optional pinch of cumin. Lamb is rich in iron and zinc, and a little gentle spice helps babies get used to new flavours early, no salt needed.
Ingredients
Instructions
- 1Peel, deseed and dice 150g pumpkin, then steam for 12-15 minutes until very soft.
- 2Put 80g ground lamb in a small saucepan with 120ml water and a tiny pinch of ground cumin (optional). Simmer for 12 minutes, breaking up the meat, until no pink remains. Skim off any fat that rises to the surface.
- 3Mash the pumpkin with a fork, then add the lamb and a little of its cooking liquid.
- 4Mash together into a soft, lumpy mash. If your baby is just starting solids, blend it smooth first and leave more texture over the following weeks.
- 5Cool before serving. Freeze extra portions for up to 1 month.
